Documents not in English must be translated
You should get any documents not in English translated by a translation service that is approved by the Department of Internal Affairs. We will also accept official translations of documents into English by the issuing Government agency or a New Zealand diplomatic post. In addition, we will accept translations made by a court in the country of origin if they have been authenticated by that country's diplomatic post in New Zealand.
Original documents must be sent in with the English translation.
If your documents are not in English and your translations are not acceptable to the New Zealand Passport Office, we will contact you and advise you which documents require translating and the amount payable.
