AI use in passport calls

We are trialling using artificial intelligence (AI) to help staff summarise phone calls within our existing contact centre platform. It is being used for calls about passport services only.

During this trial:

• Customers will continue to talk to real people, not to AI.
• Only a select number of calls will use AI call summaries. Most of our call centre continues to operate without AI support.
• Our staff will review all AI call summaries for accuracy.

This trial does not change the types of personal information we collect through contact centre calls or how long call records are kept.
