NZ Post delays

Standard passports
Standard passports are currently being processed in up to 3 weeks. Allow extra time for delivery.
We encourage you to consider this timing when planning a trip and apply for your passport with enough time to spare.
Urgent passports
Urgent passports are processed in up to 3 working days. Allow additional time for delivery.
A 'working day' is Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays and the extended break over Christmas and New Year.
If you need to travel sooner than 3 days, apply for an urgent passport and then call us straight away. You may need our after-hours service.
