Travelling to Syria

You need details of your passport confirmed by the New Zealand Passport office if you’re applying for a Syrian visa.

If you’re applying for a Syrian visa you must obtain an authenticated letter confirming the details of your passport.

Fees are charged for	Cost
The authenticated letter	NZ$65.00 (includes standard postage within New Zealand).
Courier within New Zealand	Add an additional NZ$5.00 (you can also send us a prepaid courier envelope rather than buying one through us).
International courier delivery	Courier fees will vary, please contact the Authentication unit within the Department of Internal Affairs. Call +64 4 470 2928 or 0800 872 675 (in New Zealand only).

To apply for a letter confirming the details of your passport follow the steps below.

Step	Completed by	Description
1	You	Write a letter or fax clearly marked “Request for a Syrian visa authenticated letter”. Your signature is required on the letter or fax. Include a photocopy of the photo page of your passport, making sure all your details are clearly shown. Provide your full address and daytime phone number.
2	You	Pay the authentication fee and any courier delivery fees (if applicable). Payments by cheque can be sent to the Passport office with your request. Credit card payments can be made directly to the Authentication unit within the Department of Internal Affairs, by calling (+64 4) 470 2928 or 0800 872 675 (in New Zealand only). State in your request which payment and delivery method you are using.
3	You	Post or fax your request to: The New Zealand Passport office Business Support Unit PO Box 10526 Wellington 6143 Fax: +64 4 382 3403
4	The Passport office	Will confirm your passport details and send your letter to the Authentication unit.
5	The Authentication unit	Will process and send you the authenticated letter using your chosen delivery method.
6	You	Send the authenticated letter with your visa application to your nearest Syrian Embassy.
