Application section 7 – Your child's emergency contact
This information is optional but it’s a good idea to provide the details of someone who can be contacted in emergency situations.
We recommend that you nominate a person who is not likely to be travelling with your child or your family.
The best plans can be upset by a number of problems. Some are impossible to predict or avoid, so by planning ahead and arming yourself with the right information, you can reduce the risks you might encounter overseas.
Before your child travels, you should also go to safetravel.govt.nz and register your child's travel plans. While you’re there, check the travel advisories for countries your child is travelling to.
When will we use your child's emergency contact?
- We can access your child's information if they have an accident, become sick or are involved in an incident while they are travelling overseas.
- New Zealand Passport offices overseas, New Zealand Embassies, High Commissions and Consulates can obtain your child's emergency information upon request.
Help us help you and your family in an emergency
For your protection it is recommended that your emergency contact details are written on the last page of your passport in pencil. Keep these details up to date each time you travel. Hei whakatūpato ia koe, tūhia ki raro nei ki te pene rākau, ngā taipitopito whakapā ohorere mō tētahi tangata kāore i te haere i tō taha. Kia mōhoio ake ēnei taipitopito.
